The 4-3-3 Attack is one of the most aggressive formations available in EA FC Pro Clubs. Three forwards create constant forward pressure, and the midfield triangle of one CDM and two CMs provides both attacking support and defensive coverage. This formation rewards teams that press high, transition quickly, and have disciplined wingers who track back.
Formation Overview
The 4-3-3 Attack lines up with four defenders, a CDM at the base of midfield, two CMs above them, and three forwards - typically a central striker flanked by two wide forwards (LW/RW). The attacking variant positions the two CMs higher up the pitch, giving more offensive support to the forwards compared to the Defend variant.
Best For
- Squad size: 7–11 human players - all three forward positions and both CMs benefit greatly from humans
- Playstyle: High press, fast transitions, attacking dominance
- Skill level: Requires defensive discipline from the wingers - not beginner-friendly
Strengths
- Constant forward pressure. Three forwards pressing together forces mistakes from opposition defenders and GKs, creating turnovers in dangerous positions.
- Width and depth simultaneously. The LW/RW provide width while the ST occupies the central channel - forcing CBs to make difficult decisions about who to track.
- Quick transitions. Winning the ball high up the pitch means you're already in position to attack before the opposition can reset their shape.
- Box-to-Box CM involvement. The two higher CMs can arrive late into the attack, creating numerical superiority in the box when the ball is wide.
Weaknesses
- Exposed on the counter. Three forwards high up the pitch means only three midfielders and four defenders cover against a fast counter. If the CDM doesn't hold discipline, you're vulnerable.
- Winger tracking back is non-negotiable. If LW/RW don't drop to support the fullbacks when out of possession, the flanks are wide open for opposition fullbacks to overlap.
- Single CDM pressure. One defensive midfielder has to cover the entire midfield pivot. Against a double-CDM formation, your single CDM can be outnumbered in the central area.
Custom Tactics Recommendations
- Defensive Width: 50–55
- Defensive Depth: 50–58 (higher depth supports the high press)
- Build-Up Play: Fast Build-Up for direct transition; Balanced for possession
- Attacking Width: 55–65 (full width from the LW/RW)
- CDM: Stay Back While Attacking (mandatory)
- LW/RW: Stay on wing or cut inside depending on your forwards' builds
- CMs: One "Join the attack", one "Stay in position" for balance
Key Positions for Human Players
- LW/RW: The most demanding positions - must press, track back, and attack. AI wingers fail at the defensive tracking half of this job.
- ST: Central goal threat requiring a human for smart movement and finishing
- CDM: Human CDM essential for staying back reliably while the CMs push forward
When NOT to Use This Formation
Avoid the 4-3-3 Attack with fewer than 6 human players - the defensive burden on AI wingers is too high. Against opponents who play direct ball into a physical striker, your single CDM will be overwhelmed. In those matchups, consider switching to a double-CDM formation mid-game.
