The CAM Playmaker is the creative hub of any Pro Clubs team. This build prioritises vision, passing, and dribbling to unlock defences and create chances for your strikers. If you want to control the game from the number 10 position, this is the build to run in EA FC Pro Clubs.
Physical Build
Playmakers don't need to be physical - they need to be agile:
- Height: 5'7"–5'10" (170–178cm)
- Weight: Lean (lowest setting)
- Body type: Lean or average
Staying short and light maximises your agility and acceleration - the two stats that let you receive the ball in tight spaces and escape pressure. You'll lose aerial duels, but you shouldn't be contesting headers in the CAM role anyway.
Recommended Archetype
Use the Creator archetype. It directly prioritises vision, passing, and dribbling through its stat growth path, and unlocks Incisive Pass at a high level - the single most impactful playstyle for a creative CAM. See our archetypes guide for a full comparison.
Skill Point Allocation
Allocate your skill points in this order of priority:
- Short Passing + Vision: Your primary job. Max these first. Every through ball and key pass flows through these stats.
- Dribbling + Ball Control + Agility: You'll receive the ball between the lines under pressure. Tight dribbling gets you out and into space.
- Pace (Acceleration): Not sprint speed - acceleration. Quick bursts to create separation from pressing CDMs.
- Long Shots + Shot Power: Edge-of-the-box opportunities are your bread and butter when the defence is compact. Don't neglect these.
- Long Passing: Switching play and playing balls over the top. Secondary to short passing but still valuable.
- Stamina: CAMs cover a lot of ground tracking back. Without adequate stamina, your influence fades in the second half.
Recommended Playstyles
- Incisive Pass: Makes through balls more accurately weighted and harder to intercept. Essential - this is the defining playstyle of the Playmaker CAM.
- Tiki Taka: Faster, sharper short passing in tight central areas. Helps when receiving the ball under a high press.
- Finesse Shot: Your long shots from the edge of the box will curl into corners when defenders can't close you down in time.
- First Touch: Cleaner ball control when receiving under pressure - reduces the heavy touches that give the ball away in dangerous areas.
How to Play This Build
- Stay between the lines. Your position is between the opponent's midfield and defence. Don't drop so deep you become a third CDM, and don't push so high you merge with the striker.
- Face the goal before passing. Turn to face forward before releasing the key pass - it opens the angle for through balls and gives you more options.
- Trigger striker runs with L1/LB. Send your strikers in behind the defensive line and feed the ball into the space they've created.
- Shoot from distance when the defence compresses. If defenders sit deep and pack the passing lanes, a finesse shot from 20–25 yards keeps them honest.
- Don't track back to CDM depth. Your stamina is precious. Cover passing lanes in your zone but don't make deep recovery runs unless critical.
Alternative: Shadow Striker CAM
If you prefer scoring more than creating, try the Shadow Striker CAM build. It prioritises finishing and positioning over passing, playing closer to the striker. The trade-off is fewer assists but more personal goal contributions.
Track Your Performance
Monitor your assists per game, average rating, and pass success rate on PROCLUBS.IO. A well-played CAM Playmaker should average 1+ key passes or assists per game with pass accuracy above 80%. Check the leaderboards to see how you rank among other midfielders.
