The Shadow Striker CAM operates differently to a pure Playmaker. Instead of sitting between the lines and distributing, the Shadow Striker makes late runs into the box, exploits space behind the opposition midfield, and contributes regular goals from the number 10 area. If you want a CAM that scores instead of just creating, this is your build for EA FC Pro Clubs.
Physical Build
- Height: 5'8"–5'11" (173–180cm)
- Weight: Lean
- Body type: Lean or average
Lean stays the priority. The Shadow Striker relies on acceleration and agility to make runs in behind and arrive late into the box unmarked. Heavier builds sacrifice the quick burst that makes this role work.
Recommended Archetype
Use Creator or consider a Shadow Striker-specific archetype if available for your position. Creator still unlocks useful offensive playstyles, but prioritise your skill point allocation toward finishing over passing compared to the Playmaker build. See our archetypes guide for full details.
Skill Point Allocation
- Finishing + Positioning: Your primary stats. The Shadow Striker arrives in the box - max these first.
- Pace (Acceleration + Sprint Speed): Making runs behind the midfield requires both burst speed and sustained pace.
- Dribbling + Agility + Ball Control: Tight control when receiving in the penalty area under pressure.
- Shot Power + Long Shots: For when defenders sit off and you can shoot from the edge of the box.
- Short Passing: Secondary compared to the Playmaker, but still needed for combination play and link-up with the striker.
- Weak Foot: Invest in weak foot to 4 or 5 stars. A Shadow Striker who can only shoot with one foot is predictable and easy to defend.
Recommended Playstyles
- Finesse Shot: The most important playstyle for this build. Cutting inside from left or right and curling the ball into the far corner is your primary goal-scoring pattern.
- Technical: Cleaner dribbling at pace - helps when running onto through balls with a defender tracking you.
- Rapid: Burst acceleration when making runs in behind the midfield line. Creates the separation you need to arrive unmarked.
- First Touch: Secure first touch when receiving the ball while sprinting - prevents heavy touches that let defenders recover.
How to Play This Build
- Time your runs from deep. Start your run as your midfield receives the ball - arriving just as the pass is played leaves defenders flat-footed.
- Stay higher than a Playmaker CAM. Your zone is closer to the striker than to the midfield. You're looking to arrive in the box as a late runner, not sit between the lines waiting for the ball.
- Make diagonal runs. Running diagonally from wide to central creates a better shooting angle and is harder for CBs to track.
- Use L1/LB runs strategically. Trigger your own run at the right moment and let your teammates play you in behind the last line.
- Shoot early. In the box, one touch is usually all you get. Don't take an extra touch when a first-time finish is available.
Shadow Striker vs Playmaker CAM
The key difference: the Playmaker CAM creates for others while the Shadow Striker creates for themselves. If your club already has a strong number 6 or 8 who can distribute, a Shadow Striker adds another goal threat. If your team lacks creativity, a Playmaker is more valuable to the squad.
Track Your Impact
See your goals per game, assists per game, and average match rating on PROCLUBS.IO. A Shadow Striker performing well should average 0.5+ goals per game. If your assist numbers are low but your goal count is climbing, the build is working as intended.
