Dead Ball is a playstyle in EA FC Pro Clubs that improves free kick and corner kick accuracy, power, and consistency. It is most valuable for designated set piece takers - typically a CAM, winger, or midfielder who takes the majority of your club's dead ball situations.
What Dead Ball Does
When you take a free kick or corner without any playstyle, the ball movement can be inconsistent - the trajectory varies and the margin for error on the power and direction inputs is unforgiving. Dead Ball tightens that margin. Players with this playstyle take set pieces with better technique, meaning the ball behaves more predictably and arrives with better pace and placement.
For direct free kicks from shooting range, Dead Ball makes the curl and dip more consistent. When you aim for the top corner and get the power right, the ball is significantly more likely to beat the wall and the keeper cleanly. Without the playstyle, even a well-aimed free kick can clip the wall or float too high. With it, the technique is cleaner and the ball travels on a more reliable path.
For corners, Dead Ball improves the consistency of the delivery - the ball swings in with better pace and lands closer to where you are aiming. This creates more reliable attacking corner routines for your team and is especially useful if your club runs set piece plays from corners.
Dead Ball+ (Plus Version)
Dead Ball+ gives even more precision on direct free kicks specifically. The curl is sharper, the dip is more pronounced, and the ball behaves almost exactly as you would expect it to based on your aim. Players with Dead Ball+ become genuine threats from free kick range and opposition teams will need to focus on their wall and keeper positioning whenever a dead ball situation arises.
Best Positions for Dead Ball
- CAM: Often the designated free kick taker in Pro Clubs. A CAM with Dead Ball turns every foul 25 yards from goal into a real threat.
- Winger: Frequently takes corners and wide free kicks. Dead Ball improves delivery quality from the flank, creating better chances for attackers in the box.
- CM: Central midfielders who operate in areas where fouls are commonly won can double as set piece takers with this playstyle.
When to Use Dead Ball
Dead Ball is active on every free kick and corner your player takes. The value compounds over a match - if your team earns four or five set pieces per game, a player with Dead Ball turns those into genuine scoring opportunities rather than routine restarts. It is particularly useful in matches against deep-sitting defensive teams where open play chances are limited and set pieces become more important.
When to Skip Dead Ball
If your club already has a designated set piece taker and you play a different position, Dead Ball is wasted. A striker who rarely takes free kicks or corners gains nothing. Defenders and goalkeepers also have no use for it. If your position does not naturally take dead ball situations, use that slot for something more active.
