Finesse Shot Playstyle Guide EA FC Pro Clubs (2026)

4 min readUpdated March 4, 2026

Finesse Shot is a playstyle in EA FC Pro Clubs that makes shots taken with the finesse shot input (RB/R1 + shoot) curve more and land more accurately. It is most valuable for inside forwards, wingers cutting inside, and CAMs who shoot from the edge of the box.

What Finesse Shot Does

When you hold RB/R1 and press shoot, your player wraps their foot around the ball and curls it toward the far corner. Without any playstyle, finesse shots already curve - but with Finesse Shot active, that curl is noticeably sharper and the accuracy window is much more forgiving. Shots that would have drifted wide without the playstyle tend to find the corner instead.

The playstyle affects the ball's trajectory after contact. The spin applied to the ball is heavier, which means it bends further in flight and is harder for keepers to read. From inside the box at an angle, a well-timed finesse shot with this playstyle cuts across the keeper and into the far post almost every time.

It also helps from longer range. CAMs and attacking midfielders who like to shoot from 20 to 25 yards on the edge of the box will find that their finesse shots sit lower and curl more consistently into corners rather than floating high or drifting past the post.

Finesse Shot+ (Plus Version)

Finesse Shot+ takes the base effect and amplifies it further. The curl is more dramatic, and accuracy is improved even under pressure or at difficult angles. With the plus version, you can finesse from tighter angles and still expect the ball to bend into the far corner. It is generally reserved for specific archetypes but when available it turns an already strong mechanic into one of the most reliable finishing options in the game.

Best Positions for Finesse Shot

  • CAM: Cuts inside from the half-space constantly and needs reliable shooting from the angle. Finesse Shot turns those right-footed shots from the left channel into genuine threats.
  • Winger / Inside Forward: A left winger on a right-footed player (or vice versa) cutting inside is the textbook use case. The finesse shot is your primary weapon and this playstyle makes it lethal.
  • ST: Strikers who drift wide or play off the shoulder can use finesse shots from angles after receiving cutbacks. Worth considering depending on your playstyle.

When to Use Finesse Shot

Finesse Shot activates whenever you hold RB/R1 and press shoot. It is most effective when you have cut inside onto your stronger foot and have a clear sight of the far corner. In a 1v1 where you have taken a touch inside and the keeper is narrowing the angle, a finesse shot with this playstyle bends away from them toward the far post. It also works well from outside the box when you want a low, curling shot rather than a driven effort.

When to Skip Finesse Shot

Finesse Shot provides no benefit to defenders, holding midfielders, or goalkeepers. If you are building a CDM or CB, there is no scenario where this playstyle slot pays off. Even for forwards who primarily head the ball or prefer power shots, this slot is better spent elsewhere. If your position rarely creates the angle to finesse, skip it.

If you are building an inside forward or CAM, Trivela pairs well for the opposite foot and adds another dimension to your shooting. Power Shot is the alternative finishing option for players who prefer driving the ball rather than curling it. For full build context, see the CAM shadow striker build guide.
