How to Score from Corners in EA FC Pro Clubs

6 min readUpdated March 4, 2026

Scoring from corners in EA FC Pro Clubs is one of the most reliable ways to turn pressure into goals. If your team knows how to deliver, position, and time runs correctly, corners become a genuine threat rather than a possession reset.

Inswinging vs Outswinging Delivery

The first decision is which type of delivery to use. An inswinging corner curves toward the goal, which makes it harder for the goalkeeper to claim and easier for an attacker to glance into the net. An outswinging corner curves away from goal, pulling defenders out of position and creating space for a runner arriving late at the far post. In Pro Clubs, coordinate with your corner taker before the match so the rest of the team knows which delivery to expect and can position accordingly.

Near Post vs Far Post Targeting

Near post corners work best with a sharp, fast delivery aimed at the six-yard box. The goal is a flick-on that redirects the ball into the far corner before the keeper can adjust. Far post corners give runners more time to build momentum and attack the ball with a full-power header. A good split is to send one player to the near post for the flick and a second player arriving late at the far post to convert anything that gets through. Vary your targeting across a match so defenders cannot predict your routine.

Positioning for the Header

The centre-back should make a run to the near post as the ball is delivered. This creates a flick-on opportunity and disrupts zonal markers. The striker should start slightly behind the defenders at the far post and time their run to arrive as the ball is crossing. Do not crowd the box too early. Defenders in a zonal setup pick up bodies that are already standing still. Movement on delivery is what breaks zonal marking.

Timing the Header

Hold the shoot button for a standard power header or tap it for a downward glance. Do not hold too long when you are inside the six-yard box. A short, directed header at the back post from close range is more effective than a full-power header that goes straight at the keeper. Time your jump to meet the ball at its highest point and aim for the bottom corners of the goal.

The Cross Claimer and Aerial Playstyles

The Cross Claimer goalkeeper playstyle lets keepers claim crosses more aggressively and reduces the space your attackers can exploit. When you are playing against a goalkeeper with Cross Claimer, switch to shorter, more driven deliveries aimed at the edge of the box rather than floating balls into the six-yard area. On the attacking side, the Aerial playstyle on your centre-back or striker gives them an advantage in header duels and increases the chance of winning the first contact on a delivery.

The Short Corner Trick

When your team is struggling to win headers or the opposition is defending corners well, use the short corner. Instead of crossing directly, play a short pass to a teammate on the edge of the area. This pulls one or two defenders out of the box and creates a driven cross or shot opportunity from a better angle. A well-timed driven cross from the byline after a short corner is harder to defend than a standard delivery because defenders are already out of shape.

Setting Up Corner Routines as a Team

Before the match, agree on two or three corner routines and stick to them. For example, routine one is a far post inswinger with the CB running near post and the striker at the far post. Routine two is a short corner to create a crossing angle. Routine three is a driven delivery to the penalty spot for a midfielder arriving late. Keep it simple. Too many variations lead to confusion in the moment.

Common Defensive Mistakes That Give Away Goals from Corners

The most common error is watching the ball instead of tracking your assigned runner. When the corner is delivered, defenders who turn to look at the ball lose track of the attacker they are supposed to mark. A second mistake is the goalkeeper staying on the line when they should claim the ball. If your keeper has the ability and position to claim, they should come for it. Leaving attackers to contest an unclaimed ball in the box is a recipe for a conceded goal. Learn more about defensive principles in our guide on how to defend in EA FC Pro Clubs.
