Relegation and Promotion in EA FC Pro Clubs Explained

4 min readUpdated March 4, 2026

Relegation and promotion are the mechanisms that move your club between divisions based on performance within a division season. In EA FC Pro Clubs, every division season is a fixed window of matches where your points total determines whether you rise, fall, or stay in your current division.

How Points Accumulate in a Division Season

Each division season consists of a set number of matches, typically around 10. You earn 3 points for a win, 1 point for a draw, and 0 points for a loss, identical to real-world football league tables. At the end of the season, your total points are compared against fixed thresholds that determine your fate for the following season.

The thresholds vary by division but the structure is consistent. The top zone triggers automatic promotion or a promotion playoff. The middle zone keeps you in the same division for another season. The bottom zone triggers a relegation battle or automatic relegation. For example, in a mid-tier division you might need 22 or more points for automatic promotion, 16 to 21 points for a promotion playoff, 10 to 15 to stay safe, and 9 or fewer to face a relegation playoff or drop down immediately.

Higher divisions, particularly Division 1 and the Elite Division, have stricter thresholds. The Elite Division operates differently by using a skill-rating based system rather than a purely points-based seasonal table, so promotion and relegation there are tied to rating bands rather than a fixed season end date.

Why Promotion and Relegation Matter

Your current division directly affects who you face in matchmaking. Playing in a higher division means tougher opponents, which tests your club's quality and coordination. Promotion unlocks better competition and improves your club profile on tracking sites like PROCLUBS.IO. Relegation, on the other hand, drops you into easier competition but hurts your club's standing and historical data. Clubs that yo-yo between divisions often show inconsistent win rates that are easy to spot on their profile pages.

What the Promotion Playoff and Relegation Battle Are

If you finish in the promotion playoff zone rather than the automatic promotion zone, you enter a short series of decisive matches against another club in the same position. Win the playoff and you go up. Lose and you stay in the same division. The relegation battle works the same way but in reverse: finish in the danger zone and you play off against another struggling club to survive. Lose that battle and you drop down a division. These high-stakes matches are where composure and teamwork matter most.

How to Avoid Relegation

  • Track your points total throughout the season so you know exactly how many wins you need to reach safety before the season ends.
  • Prioritize consistency over aggressive play early in a season to build a comfortable points buffer above the relegation zone.
  • Use PROCLUBS.IO to review your club's recent form and identify which positions or match situations are costing you points.
