Technical is a playstyle in EA FC Pro Clubs that tightens your dribbling, makes your player stay closer to the ball at pace, and enables sharper turns. Ball control when dribbling is significantly improved across the board. Attacking players who rely on close control in tight spaces - inside forwards, creative midfielders, and technical strikers - benefit most.
What Technical Does
Technical directly improves how your player handles the ball while moving. Without it, players at pace can lose the ball slightly wide of their body - enough for a defender to poke it away or for a change of direction to feel sluggish. With Technical equipped, the ball stays tighter to your feet, turns are sharper, and you can change direction more effectively at speed.
This is different from raw dribbling stats. Technical modifies the dribbling animation and ball position relative to your player, giving you more control without necessarily making you statistically faster or more skilled. Players with high dribbling stats who add Technical feel noticeably more responsive in tight situations - like the difference between a player who has the ball and a player who controls the ball.
In Pro Clubs, where defenders use sliding tackles and shoulder barges to win the ball on turns, keeping the ball close through Technical makes those challenges harder to execute. Tighter control means you complete more dribbles in dangerous areas.
Technical+ (Plus Version)
Technical+ gives elite close-control that lets you turn and manipulate the ball in very tight spaces that would normally require more room. Players with Technical+ can essentially dribble through situations that the base version can only manage in slightly more open spaces. It's tied to specific archetypes and is genuinely powerful on creative attacking players who spend most of the game in congested areas around the penalty box.
Best Positions for Technical
- Inside Forward / Winger: Cutting inside from wide positions into tight defensive spaces is the core use case. Combines with pace for a devastating dribbling threat. See how it fits an inside forward build.

- Striker: Technical strikers who receive and turn in tight areas near goal get significant benefit from the sharper turning radius.
- Mezzala: Carrying the ball from deep into the final third relies heavily on close control under pressure.
When to Use Technical
Technical is most effective when you regularly dribble in tight spaces - the final third, inside the box, or in midfield pockets when building through pressure. If your play style involves taking players on one-v-one and driving into space, Technical multiplies the effectiveness of those situations. It's also valuable in combination with Press Proven - clean touch, then tight dribbling.
When to Skip Technical
Defenders and goalkeepers won't use Technical in meaningful ways. Wide players who primarily use pace to beat defenders in open space rather than close-control dribbling will see less benefit - in those cases, Rapid is a better slot investment. If your build involves hold-up play rather than dribbling, the points are better spent elsewhere.
