Best GK Shot Stopper Build in EA FC Pro Clubs (2026)

5 min readUpdated March 4, 2026

The Shot Stopper is the most reliable GK build in EA FC Pro Clubs. It focuses on reflex saves, clean positioning, and handling shots from all angles. If your club faces lots of shots and you want the best possible chance of keeping them out, this is the build to run in goal.

Physical Build

  • Height: Maximise height (6'4"–6'6" / 193–198cm)
  • Weight: Medium (around 165–175lbs)
  • Body type: Athletic

Height is the most important physical stat for a goalkeeper. Taller GKs cover more of the goal without diving, increasing the chance that shots hit directly at them rather than forcing a save. Medium weight keeps enough Agility and Acceleration for cross-goal movement. Don't go maximum weight - you need mobility.

Recommended Archetype

Use the Shot Stopper archetype. It provides the best stat growth for GK Diving, Reflexes, and Positioning - the three most important GK attributes. Unlocks Far Reach and Footwork playstyles at high levels. See our archetypes guide for the comparison with Sweeper Keeper.

Skill Point Allocation

The GK skill tree is straightforward - complete the full goalkeeping skill tree first before spending points elsewhere. The dedicated GK tree maximises all five GK-specific stats. Only after finishing the GK tree should you invest in other attributes.

  1. Full GK skill tree: Priority #1. Covers GK Diving, Handling, Reflexes, Positioning, and Kicking - complete this before anything else.
  2. GK Diving: If you have remaining points after the tree, continue investing in Diving first - it's the most impactful individual GK stat for reflex saves.
  3. GK Reflexes: Close-range shots, redirections, and saves that require split-second reaction time.
  4. Agility + Balance: Side-to-side movement speed. A GK with low Agility can't get across the goal in time for well-placed shots.
  5. Pace (Acceleration): Short bursts to claim crosses and close down 1v1 situations when required.
  6. Composure: Keeping calm when the game is tight - reduces panic clearances and fumbles.

Recommended Playstyles

  • Far Reach: Extends the effective save range for shots aimed just beyond the dive. Particularly effective against Finesse Shot and Trivela users - makes shots that would normally squeak past the post saveable. This is your priority playstyle.
  • Footwork: Improves close-range save ability in 1v1 situations - the most common way goals are conceded when a striker gets clean through.
  • Cross Claimer: Better success at claiming crosses from corners and wide deliveries. Reduces errors that lead to second-chance goals.

How to Play This Build

  • Positioning over reaction. Get to your position before the shot is struck. A well-positioned GK saves more shots than a reactive GK with faster reflexes in a worse starting position.
  • Don't over-commit to crosses. Unless you're confident of a clean catch, staying on your line and letting the CBs defend is often safer than rushing out and missing the ball.
  • Distribute quickly after saves. Roll the ball out to a fullback or throw to a CDM rather than kicking long - fast distribution starts counter-attacks before the opposition is set.
  • Claim corners decisively. Either come for it confidently or stay on the line - hesitation creates collisions with your own defenders.

Alternative: Sweeper Keeper

For a more aggressive, line-sweeping goalkeeper who charges off the line to cut out through balls, see our Sweeper Keeper build guide.

Track Your Saves

Your save percentage, clean sheets, and average match rating as GK are all tracked on PROCLUBS.IO. A strong Shot Stopper should be hitting 70%+ save percentage and contributing regularly to your club's clean sheet tally.
