Best GK Sweeper Keeper Build in EA FC Pro Clubs (2026)

5 min readUpdated March 4, 2026

The Sweeper Keeper is the proactive GK build in EA FC Pro Clubs. Instead of staying on the goal line and reacting to shots, the Sweeper Keeper charges off the line to cut out through balls, dominates 1v1 situations, and distributes quickly to launch counter-attacks. This build rewards GKs who read the game and make smart decisions about when to leave their line.

Physical Build

  • Height: 6'2"–6'5" (188–196cm)
  • Weight: Lighter than Shot Stopper (around 155–165lbs)
  • Body type: Athletic or lean

The Sweeper Keeper needs more mobility than the Shot Stopper. Slightly less maximum height combined with lower weight improves Acceleration and Agility for rushing out. You sacrifice a small amount of goal-line coverage to gain speed for 1v1 scenarios and cross claiming.

Recommended Archetype

Use the Sweeper Keeper archetype. It prioritises agility, acceleration, and the positioning attributes needed for an active sweeping role. Unlocks Rush Out playstyle at a high level - the defining ability for this build. See our full archetypes breakdown.

Skill Point Allocation

The same rule applies as all GK builds: complete the full GK skill tree first. After that:

  1. Full GK skill tree: Complete before any other investment - covers all five core GK stats.
  2. GK Positioning: More important for the Sweeper Keeper than pure Diving. Reading angles and being in the right place before the ball arrives is the foundation of this build.
  3. Pace (Acceleration): Short burst speed to get off the line quickly when cutting out through balls. More critical for the Sweeper Keeper than the Shot Stopper.
  4. Agility: Side-to-side movement and recovery after making an aggressive save or claim attempt.
  5. GK Reflexes + Diving: Still important for traditional shot-stopping - the Sweeper Keeper still faces plenty of regular shots.
  6. Short Passing: Fast distribution from hand or foot. A quick throw to a fullback is often better than a punt upfield.

Recommended Playstyles

  • Rush Out: Makes rushing from the goal line to close down through balls more controlled and effective. The defining playstyle for this archetype - unlocked at a high level milestone.
  • Footwork: Better close-range saves when an attacker gets through 1v1. The Sweeper Keeper encounters more 1v1 situations than any other GK build because of the aggressive positioning.
  • Far Reach: Still useful for shots aimed past the dive - the Sweeper Keeper isn't immune to long shots from outside the area.
  • Cross Claimer: Aggressive cross claiming pairs with the proactive nature of this build - come out confidently and claim crosses before attackers can attack them.

How to Play This Build

  • Read the game, not just the ball. The Sweeper Keeper needs to anticipate through balls before they're played, not react after the striker has already run onto the ball.
  • Commit when you go. When rushing out, go fully and arrive with maximum speed. A half-committed rush leaves you stranded between positions - the worst GK outcome.
  • Coordinate with your high defensive line. The Sweeper Keeper is most effective behind a high defensive line. If your CBs sit deep, there's less space for the SK to exploit by sweeping.
  • Distribute accurately after saves. Your strongest asset is starting quick counter-attacks. A rolled throw or accurate pass to a CDM in space is worth more than a long punt that loses possession.

Sweeper Keeper vs Shot Stopper

The Shot Stopper is more reliable in high-shot-volume matches and better for reactive saves. The Sweeper Keeper is more effective in games where your team defends with a high line and you need to cut out in-behind balls. Choose based on your club's defensive shape.
