Skill Points and XP in Pro Clubs Explained

4 min readUpdated March 4, 2026

XP (Experience Points) is the progression currency your Virtual Pro earns after every match in EA FC Pro Clubs. It is the foundation of your character's long-term development, determining when you level up and when you unlock new skill points to spend on attribute upgrades.

How XP Works

After each match, your Virtual Pro receives an XP reward based on match type and your individual performance. League matches award the most XP, typically around 400 XP per game depending on your match rating, goals, assists, and clean sheets. Casual Club matches award approximately 300 XP, while Rush matches tend to land around 250 XP. These figures scale slightly with performance bonuses, so a high match rating or a hat-trick will push your total higher.

XP accumulates toward your current level threshold. Your Virtual Pro can reach a maximum of level 100, and the XP required per level increases as you progress. Early levels feel quick, but the jump from level 80 to 100 demands sustained play across many matches. There is no shortcut to skip this grind entirely, though certain strategies help you earn XP faster.

It is important to distinguish XP from Skill Rating. XP is purely a progression mechanic tied to leveling. Skill Rating is a separate match-performance metric that reflects how well you play game to game. You can have a low Skill Rating but still be gaining XP steadily if you are playing consistently.

How Skill Points Work

Every time your Virtual Pro levels up, you earn one skill point. These skill points are spent inside the Virtual Pro customization menu to raise individual attributes like pace, shooting, passing, dribbling, defending, or physical. The specific attributes you can upgrade and the cap on each one are determined by your chosen archetype and position. At maximum level 100, a player accumulates up to 160 total skill points across their career, which is enough to build a well-rounded pro if spent efficiently.

Skill points cannot be unspent once allocated, so planning your build before spending is worthwhile. Many experienced players map out their attribute priorities based on their archetype and playstyle selections before committing points.

Why XP and Skill Points Matter

Your Virtual Pro's overall rating and attribute caps are directly tied to how many skill points you have earned and spent. A freshly created pro starts significantly underpowered compared to a maxed-out level 100 player. In competitive Club matches, this gap is noticeable, particularly in physical duels and sprint speed. Progressing your pro as quickly as possible makes you more effective for your team.

How to Earn XP Faster

  • Play League matches over casual modes since they award the highest XP per game.
  • Focus on earning high match ratings by completing key actions for your position: defenders should win tackles and headers, forwards should score or assist.
  • Play full matches rather than leaving early, as partial match XP is significantly reduced.
  • Participate in Rush during downtime since the shorter format lets you stack multiple games quickly even if individual XP is lower.

How to See Your XP on PROCLUBS.IO

In-game, your XP bar and current level are visible in the Virtual Pro hub under the progression tab. On PROCLUBS.IO, your Virtual Pro's overall rating and match stats are displayed on your player profile page, giving you a quick view of your progress relative to teammates and opponents.
