EA FC Pro Clubs is the online team football mode where you build and develop a virtual player and compete alongside real teammates. This complete guide covers everything from your first login to competing in the Elite Division - use it as a hub for everything Pro Clubs.
What Is Pro Clubs?
Pro Clubs (officially called Clubs in EA FC 25) is a persistent 11v11 online game mode. You create a Virtual Pro - your custom player - and join a club with up to 10 other human players. Every match develops your pro's stats, and your club builds a win record and a Skill Rating that determines your competitive standing across seasons.
Unlike Ultimate Team or standard online matches, Pro Clubs is entirely team-based. You control one player per match, not the whole team. Coordination and communication with your teammates matters as much as individual skill - often more.
Creating Your Virtual Pro
When you start Pro Clubs for the first time, you build your Virtual Pro from scratch:
- Position: Choose your natural position and stick to it. Specialists outperform generalists significantly in every division.
- Archetype: Choose a build style for your position (e.g., Advanced Forward, Box-to-Box, Stopper). This sets your stat growth priorities as you level up. See our archetypes guide before committing - it's hard to undo a wrong choice at higher levels.
- Physical build: Height and weight affect pace, strength, and aerial ability. Lean and shorter equals faster acceleration. Taller and heavier equals more physicality and heading ability.
- Playstyles: As you level up, you unlock playstyles - passive perks that change how your player controls in specific situations. Check our best playstyles for every position guide before allocating them.
Joining or Creating a Club
You need a club to play League matches and access competitive features. Your options:
- Create your own club: Full control over name, kit, formation, and settings. Requires finding teammates from scratch. See our club creation guide for the step-by-step process.
- Join an existing club: Search for clubs by name, apply, and wait for the club manager to accept. Easier to start playing immediately.
- Play Drop-In: Join as a free agent in a public match. No club needed, but no persistent stats or team coordination either - just ad-hoc football.
Game Modes Within Clubs
Pro Clubs includes several match formats:
- League Matches: Competitive 11v11 games that affect your division standing and Skill Rating. Wins earn 3 points, draws earn 1 point. The main competitive mode.
- Playoffs: When your club accumulates enough League points, you enter a Playoffs bracket for promotion to the next division. Win it and you go up.
- Rush: A 5v5 format with 4 humans and an AI goalkeeper per side. Faster matches (~10 minutes), great for smaller groups. See our Rush vs Pro Clubs breakdown for when to play each.
- Drop-In: Ad-hoc public matches where individual players fill both sides. No club SR at stake - good for practice.
- Friendlies: Unranked matches against specific clubs you invite. No SR impact - useful for trying formations and tactics.
The Division System
Clubs compete across 10 divisions, from Division 10 (lowest) up to the Elite Division (highest). Winning League matches earns points for promotion. Losing too many risks a Relegation Battle. Once you reach the Elite Division, you can't be relegated for the rest of the season.
Read our full divisions explained guide and our guide to climbing divisions for detailed strategies at each tier.
Cross-Play and Platforms
Pro Clubs supports cross-play between PS5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC (the current-gen pool). PS4 and Xbox One play in a separate last-gen pool. You cannot play cross-gen. See our complete cross-play guide for full platform compatibility details.
Developing Your Virtual Pro
Your Virtual Pro earns XP after every match. XP unlocks level-ups, and each level earns skill points to allocate to your attributes. The max level is 100, with a maximum of 160 skill points available across your entire pro's lifetime.
Prioritise attributes relevant to your position and archetype first - don't spread points thin. Read our guide to leveling up your pro fast for the most efficient XP routes.
Understanding Skill Rating
Every club has a Skill Rating - an Elo-style number that rises and falls with match results. Beat stronger clubs and you gain more SR. Lose to weaker clubs and you lose more SR. Your SR is the clearest single indicator of your club's true competitive level.
Formations and Tactics
Your club manager sets the formation and custom tactics. Common starting formations include 4-2-3-1, 4-3-3, and 4-1-2-1-2. The best formation depends on your squad size and how disciplined your players are positionally.
See our best formations guide for detailed breakdowns and our custom tactics guide for how to optimise width, depth, and player instructions to suit your squad.
Key Tips for New Players
- Stay in your position. Chasing the ball collapses the formation and opens space for the opposition.
- Communicate with your team. Voice chat or quick chat makes a significant difference to coordination.
- Build a specialist pro. One great attribute set beats scattered stats every time.
- Don't sprint everywhere. It reduces your first touch and drains stamina for the second half when matches are often decided.
- Play your average rating, not just the scoreline. Consistent 7.5+ ratings build XP and indicate you're contributing correctly to your position.
